This is real basic type of eq trick but many professional engineers use it so sorry if it's been posted or you already know it.

Set the q of your parametric at a very narrow width and boost it all the way up, then gradually sweep it across the frequency range. areas where it's harsh will isolate offensive or muddy freqs that you can notch out to clean up your sounds
